Trick 2

Harnessing the Psychology of Color

Color theory is a fundamental aspect of graphic design. A basic understanding can help you create harmonious and impactful color palettes.

  • The Color Wheel: Understand the relationships between colors.
    • Complementary Colors: Opposite each other on the color wheel (e.g., red and green), they create high contrast and can be very eye-catching.
    • Analogous Colors: Next to each other on the color wheel (e.g., blue, blue-green, and green), they create a sense of harmony and cohesion.
    • Triadic Colors: Evenly spaced around the color wheel, they offer a balanced and vibrant palette.
  • Color Psychology: Colors evoke emotions. For example, blue often conveys trust and calmness, while red can signify excitement and urgency. Choose colors that align with the message you want to communicate.
